‘Torso’, Carrara Marble Torso, Found Iron Finger Bar, Bronze Dowel

I used Carrara Marble for this piece, chosen for its purity and innocence. The piece is a torso, and also a map. At the core of the torso is Perry’s Well, where we always played.
The pieces on the lower part of the torso are the buildings that once stood nearby.
The ripples on the back are the hills where we went with our bags of hay during the snow, to slide downhill.
This sculpture invites touch – it is a sensuous piece, meant to be felt as much as seen. Running your hands over its surface, eyes closed, it becomes a landscape of memory.
